Even the Smallest Sound
You are probably in front of your computer screen at this very moment, reading every word I have written. So....Listen, for a moment. Stop, close your eyes and listen. What do you hear, right now? Could you describe it in just a few words? Is it something you hear on a continual basis? Is there, perhaps, a new sound, less familiar, you had not noticed before? Did you hear "nothing"? Was it stone silent? Have you ever really heard the deafening intensity of silence? Ponder this for a moment. What did you hear? What did you think you heard? What did you expect to hear? Now, let's apply this. The last time you spoke with someone you love and care deeply for, did you actually "hear" all that they said? Or were you thinking about your response? Thinking at all? To be heard, one must not only have been "heard", but consciously "listened" to. You know when someone has been listening by their response to your statements. You know if you have communicated by their action or reaction to your words. Don't you just love the old "deer-in-the-headlights" look? It can be both humorous and exasperating at the same time. If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? Only if you are there to listen to it. Everyone hears even the smallest sound. It just takes a bit more effort to listen and appropriately respond. Bob Curtis has been writing articles, short fiction and poetry for over 30 years. If you have read these articles long enough, you have seen this written in several different forms and ways. There is even a series on it in one of my ebooks. Life is perfect is a way of living for me. If I understand that I have the ability to create my life by the actions I take, then I understand that both the life I live today and the life I will live tomorrow is perfect in that sense. You Can Quickly And Easily Solve Your Problems Today I just wanted to write you a quick note to encourage you. Why? Because even as you are doing your best to be motivated there will be days when it all seems too much. Consulting Your Soul Recently I approached a traffic light where a man stood in shabby clothes with a three-legged dog by his side. As I waited for the light to change I looked at this scene with compassion and felt an urge to contribute something. The sign he was carrying indicated that he was homeless. The people in my car commented that he was a strong young man, there were plenty of employment opportunities, and why should anyone give to people who are capable of working. They indicated a kind of mild contempt for this man soliciting funds whom they felt "should" be working. My thoughts were on him and the fact that he cared for and fed this crippled dog. I rolled down the window and gave him several dollars for which he expressed enormous gratitude. Dreams and Desires, Wants and Wishes Journals Have you ever dreamed of a new house? A Bad Move Direct Answers - Column for the week of April 7, 2003 Entrepreneur and Mom When I was 12 years old, I had surgery with complications. I was told there was a chance I would not be able to have children. Growing up I could not imagine my life without children and worried about it often. When I got married close to my 21st birthday, my husband and I hoped that we would be lucky enough to have children. Luckily, I found out I was pregnant almost a year later. However, soon after the great news, I got very sick. I was working full time at a corporate travel agency and I could not work. My doctor told me that I had to take care of myself or I would be at risk to lose my baby. My employer got very nasty with me and was not compassionate about my sickness. I almost lost my job, but my doctor was able to get me medical leave from the family leave act. The experience was horrible. I vowed to never have to choose between my career and the health of my baby. I began to look for ways to work from home. I tried Mary Kay Cosmetics but I was terrible at it. It didn't feel comfortable and I really had nothing to make me want to be successful. Breaking Through Uncertainty - Welcoming Advertisty We all question our ability at times. Uncertainty plagues us. It is even more intense if the ability we are questioning relates to something we have never tried or not succeeded at in the past. TIES that BIND I have no idea how it started or who launched it. Nevertheless years after all of the women in my family died (they were the initiators of all of our major family events and thingamajigs). After the demise of these women our family unit was left largely comprised of men). In recent years, I started paying attention to remarks that I'd heard growing up and today continually heard from other family members about how our family is considerably dissimilar or substantially distant from each other and how we were markedly contrasted from that of other families. As a young adult, I sold into that inconsistency and I eventually started to believe it. Now, from top to bottom I fervently want to know how this mis-perception spawned. I had to see for myself if this "assumption" holds water. Launch Yourself Into Living Memorial Day weekend, 2004, found my wife and I along with friends, relaxing in a nice camp setting in Hershey, Pennsylvania. We had a great time at the Hershey Factory Tour Experience, which included, among a dozen other attractions, an excellent 3D movie presentation which wasn't quite like a movie at all, but a true experience, complete with misters and blowers that would alternately sprinkle you with a fine spray of water or tickle your ankles with a subtle burst of air, in concert with events happening on screen.
